Calgary housing numbers down in August

Posted by Arshad Rashed on Tuesday, September 7th, 2010 at 9:11am.

Home sales in Calgary continued to trend lower in the month of August. According to stats released by the Calgary Real Estate Board, the number of single family homes sold last month was down 32 per cent from the same time a year ago. Diane Scott, president of the CREB, says that our city's housing market has been undergoing a measured correction over the past four to five months. She adds, sales are trending lower as a result of a decrease in first time home buyers entering the market and a decline in pent up demand following a strong post-recession recovery.
